Tarago and its surrounds
Tarago is in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales and is 700 metres above sea level.
In Goulburn Mulwaree shire, Tarago is situated 32 kilometres south of the city of Goulburn and 69 kilometres northeast of Canberra. It is 222 kilometres from Sydney.
Tarago is located on the Bombala branch railway line from Goulburn and as such is served thrice-daily Countrylink Xplorer service from Sydney to Canberra.
